Back on Track

I meant to continue writing on this blog throughout my whole trip here, but lately I just haven’t been in the mood to write. As I approach the halfway mark of my program here in Tanzania, I have realized already that I wish I had continued writing on here. Little details are forgotten so easily, and I don’t want to forget anything about this trip. So this is going to be an update of my time here so far and then I plan on writing on here more often.

Our weeklong orientation in Dar es Salaam was fun, but very crazy at the same time. Dar is the economic capital of the country. There has recently been a huge influx of people moving there because they believe that there are opportunities there. However, this is not the case. There is really nowhere for these people to go and nowhere for them to work. This has resulted in a ton of homeless people and poverty throughout the city. There is ALWAYS traffic in Dar no matter what time of day it is.
