Bagamoyo

We took an overnight trip to the coastal town of Bagamoyo, around 2 hours north of Dar es Salaam. Bagamoyo used to be a very important port during the colonial times. We got to visit some ruins of a mosque, graves, German barracks, and the German graveyard. We had an excellent tour guide who gave us a lot of information on the history of the town. We also got to visit the Bagamoyo Art Market. There were so many beautiful paintings there. I wanted to buy so many of them, but I could never get them home! It’s amazing how talented some of the people are. Even one guy was partially blind and creating beautiful paintings.
